A dark peel does not have only one cause
Banana peel may darken through normal ripening, bruising, or chilling injury. Low-temperature exposure can disrupt peel color and sometimes cause the peel and edible pulp to ripen differently, so color alone does not prove that a banana was stored incorrectly.
