    Why use this calculator

Knowing your daily calorie needs is the foundation of any body composition goal. Without this number, adjusting your diet is guesswork. This calculator estimates your BMR (calories burned at rest) and TDEE (calories burned including activity), giving you a data-driven starting point for fat loss, maintenance, or muscle gain.

    How to use this calculator

Enter your age, sex, height, and weight, then choose your activity level and goal. Select Metric or Imperial units first — the form will show only the fields for the unit system you pick. Press Calculate to see your results.

    What the result means

Your BMR is estimated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, one of the most widely used formulas for resting energy expenditure. This is then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your TDEE, and adjusted up or down depending on whether your goal is weight loss, maintenance, or muscle gain.

    Important limitations

This calculator provides a population-level estimate, not an individualized medical assessment. It does not account for medical conditions, medications, body composition, or metabolic differences between individuals.

    FAQ

    How accurate is this calculator?

It provides a reasonable estimate for most healthy adults, but individual metabolism can vary by several hundred calories per day.

Which activity level should I choose?

Pick the option that best reflects your typical week, not an especially active or inactive day.

    Can I use imperial units?

Yes — switch to Imperial in the calculator to enter your height in feet and inches and your weight in pounds.

Why do I need to enter my age?

Age affects metabolic rate and body composition. The formulas used here are validated for adults (18+). Child and teen calculations require different growth-adjusted reference ranges not covered by this tool.
