Estimated result
Based on Devine & Robinson formulas. Ideal weight is a range, not a fixed target.
Why use this calculator
Ideal weight ranges give you a concrete reference point, particularly useful when a fat loss or muscle gain goal needs a realistic target. Rather than relying on a single formula, this calculator shows you the range across three widely used medical formulas so you can see where they agree.
How to use this calculator
Select your sex, enter your height, and press Calculate. The result shows individual formula values and a combined range that represents the middle 10% of all three estimates.
What the result means
Three classic formulas — Devine (1974), Robinson (1983), and Miller (1983) — each estimate ideal weight differently. The range shown here averages all three and applies a ±5% band, giving a practical target zone rather than a single number.
Important limitations
These formulas were developed decades ago on limited populations and do not account for muscle mass, bone density, or body composition. “Ideal weight” is a rough guideline, not a health target.
FAQ
Which formula is most accurate?
None is definitively best — they each reflect different research populations. The averaged range is a safer reference point.
Should I aim to be within this range?
It’s a guideline. Athletes and muscular individuals may healthily sit above it.
